Dr. Robinson was raised on a dairy farm near Bokchito, Oklahoma, and graduated from Bokchito High School in 1958. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree, with a double major in chemistry and mathematics, from Southeastern State College in 1962. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from the University of Oklahoma in 1966. He joined the faculty at Southeastern in 1966 as Assistant Professor of Chemistry. During his 42-year tenure, Dr. Robinson served as a Professor of Chemistry, Chair of the Physical Sciences Department, Director of Institutional Research and Planning, Director of Minority Biomedical Research Support (MBRS) Program, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Graduate Dean, Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Special Assistant to the President.
Impact
This scholarship is for students majoring in Chemistry who are preparing for a PhD in Chemistry or for a professional degree in Health Sciences. Recipients must be enrolled full-time and have a minimum 3.5 GPA. Preference will be given to juniors or seniors who are Oklahoma residents. Preference will also be given to Honors Program students regardless of residency.
